Microarchitecture through AI: The Armenian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025

We are proud to have collaborated on the realization of the Armenian Pavilion for the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Curated by Marianna Karapetyan, the project explores the intersection of cultural memory, emerging technologies, and heritage conservation through an innovative interdisciplinary approach.

The exhibition Microarchitecture through AI: Creating New Memories with Ancient Monuments is hosted in Tesa 41 of the Arsenale in Venice, a historic building that is normally closed to the public. Opening this space offers visitors the rare opportunity to enter a site usually inaccessible, directly engaging with the research on display.

A project that reimagines architectural memory
At the heart of the exhibition lies a generative artificial intelligence model, trained on a vast archive of 3D scans developed by the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, which has digitized hundreds of Armenian heritage sites. From this digital corpus emerge speculative new forms, brought into physical reality through sculptures in tuff stone—the material most closely associated with Armenian architecture. The pavilion raises provocative questions about the role of artificial intelligence as a creative agent: is it merely a tool, or can it redefine architectural identity?

Tesa 41 proved to be a suitable venue for hosting the Pavilion. The space engages with the tuff stone sculptures, which originate from a digital design process but are realized entirely through material means.

Our contribution to the Armenian Pavilion
We supported the curatorial team and the participating institutions throughout all operational phases, from venue scouting to logistical and regulatory management, as well as technical coordination for the installation and public opening. Thanks to our expertise in managing events in complex and historically significant contexts, we helped transform Tesa 41 into a contemporary exhibition space that presents a compelling and timely narrative.
